New & Replacement Fascias, Soffitts, Bargeboards & Guttering

Posted: July 2nd, 2013

In a recent article on the partner pages of the Essex Trade Windows website, Chelmsford Roofline Ltd got us thinking about the difference between essential and desirable home improvements.

It is true that new and replacement double glazed windows add value and make a home more attractive. The same is undoubtedly true of new and replacement fascias, soffits, bargeboards, downpipes and gutters. At Essex Trade Windows we know that our double glazed windows are thermally efficient, reducing fuel costs and energy bills. The same can equally be said of UPVC roofline products from Chelmsford Roofline, preventing water and wind entering lofts and roof spaces, improving insulation and energy efficiency.

But perhaps there is a difference between the need for new windows and the need for new fascias and soffits. The obvious one is that home owners normally know when their windows need replacement. Certainly at the ground floor level it is difficult to miss cracks in a timber window frame or rotting wood and flaking paintwork. Fascias and soffits, being at the join of wall and roof, are harder to inspect. The fact is, all timber fittings need to be examined frequently and serviced regularly. Timber fascias and soffits should be repainted every five or six years.

The purpose of fascias and soffits is to protect the house from the elements. Once water gets into roof joists, rafters and beams, the structural integrity of the whole roof comes under threat.

New and replacement UPVC fascias, soffits, bargeboards and boxboards from Chelmsford Roofline are guaranteed for at least 2o years. UPVC roofline products are maintenance free and will not warp, crack or fade. Chelmsford Roofline Ltd install the latest Eurocell fascias, soffits and bargeboards that come in a choice of styles and a wide selection of colours including natural wood effect finishes.

Chelmsford Roofline also offer a fantastic range of weatherboard cladding that is as functional and protective to the home as it is elegant.

So, are replacement fascias, soffits, bargeboard and gutters essential or desirable? The obvious answer is both.
